Sikkim-Darjeeling Himalayas Endangered Language Archive (SiDHELA) is an archive of the linguistic resource of the languages spoken in the Himalayan Biodiversity hotspot of Sikkim and North Bengal.

Sikkim and North Bengal is a biodiversity hotspot within the Eastern Himalayas. Although this biogeographic region has several distinct political boundaries, it has a single linguistic ecology for shared historical, cultural as well as demographic considerations enough to form a micro-linguistic area in India. Sikkim and North Bengal has more than 34 languages of India’s 197 endangered languages, belonging to the Tibeto-Burman, Indo-Aryan, the Dravidian, and the Austro-Asiatic language families endangered to various degrees.
The Centre for Endangered Languages, Sikkim University is funded by the University Grants Commission. The Centre was formally established in December, 2016 for preservation and promotion of endangered languages of the region to compliment national and international endeavours to document and preserve endangered languages which are at the verge of being forgotten with each passing day.
The Centre for Endangered Languages, Sikkim University is a part of the Northeast cluster with the CFEL, Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh and the CEL, Tezpur University, Assam.
