Made in India-SiDHELA : India’s First Endangered Language Archive

Sikkim-Darjeeling Himalayan Endangered Languages Archive (SiDHELA) created by the Centre for Endangered Languages, Sikkim University is India’s first endangered language archive. This archive is part of the ongoing language documentation initiatives of the Centre funded by the University Grant Commission.

 

CEL-SU working on endangered, lesser known languages of Sikkim and North Bengal.


Dictionary and Grammar of five endangered languages viz. Bhujel, Gurung, Magar, Rai-Rokdung and Sherpa are published by Centre for Endangered Languages, Sikkim University. These books were released by the Vice- Chancellor, Sikkim University; Prof. G.N Devy; Fr. Thadathil and community members on 23 November 2022.
