The pilot field survey was conducted by Centre for Endangered Languages, Sikkim University on Bhujel from 15th-23rd June 2017. The team conducted the pilot survey at Salangdang, Lungchok, Daramdin in the West District; Kitam Bel Bhotey, Turuk, Namphing Bermeok in the South District; and Rhenock Rongli in the East District of Sikkim. These seven villages are the Bhujel dominated areas and their geographical distributions were also taken into consideration so as to have maximum coverage of Sikkim. The second round of fieldwork was carried out from 14th-15th February 2018 in Suruk and Samtar villages in the Kalimpong district of West Bengal.
